Alwin Holland Elementary is located in the centre of the bustling community of Fort St. John, which is located in the beautiful Peace River Valley. Our school motto is T.E.A.M <\/strong><\/em>: T<\/strong>ogether E<\/strong>veryone A<\/strong>chieves M<\/strong>ore<\/em>.\u00a0 At Alwin Holland we take a team approach to all that we do. We are proud of what we are achieving as a team, and we enjoy and find fulfillment in the work we do together.\u00a0 We strive to create a welcoming, warm, caring environment for all members of our school community.\u00a0 We value inclusion and diversity, and recognize and appreciate the role of humour in creating a healthy working and learning environment.<\/p>\n

Introduction<\/b><\/p>\n

Alwin Holland is a K-6 school with a\u00a0 student population of about 235 students and 10 classroom divisions. We have a very diverse student population. We have 12 full-time and part-time Classroom Teachers. In addition to Classroom Teachers, we have a Learning Assistance Teacher, Resource Teacher, Teacher Librarian, two Prep Teachers, an English Language Learning Teacher, and a Reading Recovery teacher. We also receive Speech Language support, Physical Therapy support, Occupational Therapy support and Counselling support from our school district.<\/span><\/p>\n

We have a full-time Principal and a part-time Vice-Principal. Our support staff includes a full-time Administrative Assistant, thirteen full-time and part-time educational assistants, an Indigenous Youth Care Worker, a Social Emotional Learning worker, School Meals\/ Canteen Coordinator and 2 custodians.<\/span><\/p>\n

Our parents are involved and committed to their children\u2019s education. We have an active Parent Advisory Council (PAC). The PAC is valued for its support and contributions to the school and our activities. The broader school community and our staff are committed to building a positive and safe school environment which fosters learning for all students.<\/span><\/p>\n

For funding purposes, Alwin Holland is designated as an \u201cinner city\u201d school.\u00a0 We receive additional funding for social equity programs. We also offer a breakfast program and a healthy snack program for our students.\u00a0 Our lunch program and our canteen provide nutritional lunch choices for students with the help of student volunteers.<\/span><\/p>\n

Our school hosts a before and after school care program, in our beautiful Clubhouse, located at the centre of our school. This program provides childcare for our students\u00a0 before and after the hours of school supervision. <\/span><\/p>\n
