Another School Year Starting Soon!!

August 26th, 2020

Hello, Parents, Guardians and Students!

We look forward to seeing you again in September! We have some general information to share right now, and we will have more detailed information in the near future. Please keep an eye on our Facebook page (Alwin Holland Elementary) and our website: holland.prn.bc.ca for updates.

The first day of school for students in Grades 1 to 6 will be THURSDAY, September 10th from 8:50am to 10:50am. Friday, September 11th is a full day, with the first bell ringing at 8:45am and dismissal at 2:50pm. The gradual Kindergarten start up has been modified and will be posted separately.

Teachers will meet and dismiss their classes in the field. On the first day, students will need to find their grade marker. Teachers will collect their students and lead them into the school. Students are to limit physical contact with others at all times, and adults are to maintain physical distance (2m) from others. Late students will need to check in at the office, as is normal practice.

As per BCCDC guidelines, we are not to allow parents, guardians, or other adults (that are not part of the staff) into the building. Appointments for specific purposes may be made by calling the school office. (250-785-6125)

The SD60 Safety Plan is on the district’s website: www.prn.bc.ca. Check out:  BC’s Back to School Plan for additional information. Both plans are very thorough and many of your concerns/questions will likely be answered in the plans.

The AH Safety Plan will be shared next week after the school-based health and safety team meets to update the plan.

New registration? Please call the school office the week of August 31st-September 4th to make an appointment. You will need proof of age (birth certificate), proof of address/residence, and immunization record.

Leaving Alwin Holland? Please call the school or email alwinholland@prn.bc.ca and indicate where you are moving so that we can expect a request for records from that location and follow up as needed.

We are looking forward to a wonderful year in our ‘new’ school. Not only will we have approximately half as many students as last year, but we also have a new look outside (and new HVAC being installed inside)!

See you soon!
